| Welcome to our trip to Scotland, England and Wales! We've set up this web site so we can share our adventure to Great Britain. If you have some time you'll see the places we visited (with pictures and post cards), the places where we ate (more pictures and we hoped that smell-a-vision was released but not yet), the people we traveled with (pictures...no one really does post cards of themselves) and, most importantly, the people and their cultures in the three wonderful counties we passed through all too quickly. Many of us started our trip, a couple of days early, on June 20 and arrived back home around the 9th of July. While that seems like a long time, it passed in a flash. We (About Our Group [catchy title...yes?] section) visited 3 countries, a bunch of cities, churches and museums and had more WOW moments then anyone expected. Over the last several years, we've all become enamored with Rick Steves, the way he travels and the tours he offers. The group has done quite a bit of travel on our own and have found that we could spend far too much time worrying about where to stay, where to eat, what to see, how to get there, etc. Of course, simply going on a tour solves most of these issues. What drew us to Rick is his focused attention to seeing things Through the Back Door...not just places and things but the people and their culture. The trip was everything we hoped for and even more. We hope that this is reflected in our site and that you'll get a flavor of the outstanding time we had on our adventure! Before you do that, however, please take a moment to understand the various features of our site. Since there is so much to tell, we hope it isn't confusing. | ||||||||||

| The information in the two margins of the front page and the page you're currently on are pretty much the same. Down the left side you have a series
of buttons that cover who we are, the group we traveled with (what a great gang of folks) and our outstanding tour guide...GillianChadwick!
Below that, a series of buttons that takes you to one of the cities we visited. We've covered the content of those pages below.
The two buttons at the bottom take you to a display of some of the pictures we took and the post cards we collected. On the right side of the page, you're given a map of our tour, showing the order of our visits. You can go to any of the city-pages by clicking on a city's name on that map. There is also an Itinerary button (near the top of the map) to view the complete itinerary from the Rick Steves web site. CITY PAGES The individual city pages (the example below is for Edinburgh), include details of our adventure going to, and being at, that city. Each of the city-pages is again broken into three columns. Left Column This column contains 'stuff' about the city/location. For example: Middle Column In this column, you'll find a series of 'sections'. You can move to each section by either scrolling down the page or by pressing the appropriate button under the city's name. (Note: not all sections appear under each city) Also note that two of the buttons are for the display of pictures and/or post cards. In each section there's some info and pictures. At the bottom there may also be a button for pictures (if there were more to share) and another button for post cards (if we bought any). In MOST cases, you can click on the pictures (you'll know which ones...trust me) to see an enlarged version. Right Column The column on the right is divided into two parts. At the top of the column you'll find a map that shows the position of the city/location along our tour. It also acts as a means to get to another city. Simply click on the name of another city/location and you'll jump to that city. Below the map (and a free ad for Rick Steves), you'll see some 'Other Stuff'. These are pictures of things like admission ticket, bus tickets, brochures, hotel card, restaurant card, etc. That's it. We hope you enjoy the site. We've had a great deal of fun putting it together. If you were a member of this trip and you have pictures (or post cards, etc.) that you'd like to add, send them to me at ron.nelson@comcast.net. Be sure to include the period between ron and nelson. The "other" Ron is getting tired of getting my emails! Also, you should be able to copy and print any of the enlarged versions of the pictures as 4 X 6 inch prints. If that doesn't work and/or you'd like a copy of the original 1-2 meg file, make a note of the number of the picture (right side of the title of the enlarged version), and send me an email (same ron.nelson thing) with the number of the picture. I'll send you a copy of the file. Finally, if you have suggestions for the site, send them along a well. Can't guarantee I'll use them, but it would be fun to have them as well. ENJOY! | ||||||||||
